Have you ever read about a zinc mining town? Good, me neither. This book is definitely different from what I normally read, usually fiction, but on the rare occasion I read nonfiction I do enjoy stories about small towns or new places I’ve never been. This one definitely did not disappoint!
I used to live in the country and so reading about how this little community worked definitely brought back some of my own memories from my own town. That being said, I can’t say I had anywhere near the same experience as these folks!
You’ll read a lot about the old swimming pool that used to be filled with mine water, the old commissary, and adventures through the woods near Mascot, Tennessee, but in addition you will experience a small town through the eyes of many people who lived during a time we could only dream about. As little as the town was, each story these individuals share is as unique as they are.
This delightfully nostalgic read will prompt heartwarming smiles and laughs to fill your soul.
